We played to a small but enthusiastic crowd at Arcadia House in the Sault last night. Hello Marx rocked hard, and if I didn't know otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to tell that it was Simon's first show with the band.
Waterslide were very fun. They played a super tight set as an instrumental guitar and drums duo. Apparently, they have a keyboardist who couldn't make it out unfortunately. I hope I get to see the full band configuration at some point. Jason from waterslide was also a super nice guy who put us up for the night.
Afterwards, Chris from Northern Rocks magazine was nice enough to let us stay in his place, even though he's in the midst of a move to Thunder Bay. We had a fire in his back yard and hotboxed Hello Marx's van, after which point I returned to the fire to hear Chris remark about how much he hated barcodes, koi fish and dice. I thought those were pretty bizarre things to express such an immense distaste for, but it turned out he was talking about tattoos of those things.
We hit the road at about noon and left for North Bay. Currently, I am sitting in the upstairs of the Bull & Quench, waiting for the acoustic act who is supposed to play to show up. This show is already better attended than the one in the Sault so hopefully people keep coming!

I'm glad Simon is doing well with them! I miss him already.
