Tour Blog 4: Manifest Destiny

I thought it would be relaxing to have a couple of days off at home in the middle of tour, but as it turns out, I left this morning feeling more exhausted than when I got home. I guess I shouldn’t have gone to the Townehouse after going to see Fucked Up last night at Millards’ Garage, but it was totally worth it, at least for the opportunity to have a chat with Sudbury’s #1 conversationalist, Matt Moskal.

Our Toronto show last Friday was the best one yet. Pretty much everyone from Sudbury we know who has moved to Toronto came out. Big thanks to the Get Nuns, Witch Ways West, and the Archives for making it the best date on our tour so far (you’re a close second, Windsor). Some friends even came down from Sudbury for the show!

Everyone in attendance did their best to help us clear the bar minimum by getting completely shitfaced. This resulted in some of our close friends destroying property, being groped in their most sensitive of areas by gay men, exposing themselves to restaurants packed with people, and finishing off their night in a karaoke bar that may or may not have been a bordello.

I paid $1400 yesterday to have the van fixed since it’s been stalling with increased regularity, sometimes even on the highway. But at the Fucked Up show yesterday, I found out that the awesome band Killing Queens from Sudbury, who had booked themselves a pretty solid tour with the band Alaskan, had to leave their van in Toronto and sell it for parts because it was damaged beyond repair. Some reports have it that they destroyed it in the middle of Dundas St. before calling the wreckers. Some of them even got stranded in Toronto. So, I’m feeling pretty fortunate to be on the road right now.
