North Bay

We played the Bull & Quench last night and as always, we had a fun time in North Bay. I'm already starting to regret the decision to start a two-piece with so much gear. It was incredibly exhausting carrying all the stuff up the stairs last night, setting up, and carrying it out immediately afterwards.

We played with the following bands: Never Hit Again, 20 Big Mistakes, and Feels Like Yesterday. Didn't catch much of 20BM's set since we were loading out but these Drummondville, QC guys sounded tight. Also from Drummondville, NHA played a punk cover of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody which was totally awesome, and North Bay locals Feels Like Yesterday closed their set with a pretty wicked instrumental metal tune.

The guys from Drummondville were pretty french and I'm pretty anglophone, so I communicated with them mainly via the international language of high fives. I can speak OK french, but high fives speak louder than stammering, half-formed sentences.

Our new stage personas worked very well. We wore our leather jackets and sunglasses the whole time and the only thing that I said to the audience was "Kill Everyone Now" and "Thanks for the show Kelly." Tonight, I will add "Daddy Ate my Eyes" because Pauly from Feels Like Yesterday told me a horrific story last night about how some guy from out west ate his kid's eyeballs while on PCP and the cops later found him in a field trying to saw his own leg off. Pauly said the kid remarked to the cops, "Daddy Ate my Eyes".

Jon's bass broke so we couldn't play Ptreodactyl or the Fire Sermon. We're going to bring it to Music City today and figure out what's wrong. Ruggy from the Hometown Hecklers (www.myspace.com/hometownhecklers) was kind enough to loan Jon his bass should we not be able to get it fixed, so we should be fine tomorrow. Also, Kee Kee and Ruggy from the Hometown Hecklers let us stay at their house once again. They are super nice folks, and they are working really hard to make North Bay a fun city to play music in.

We're meeting up with the Mule Skinner guys in Orillia tomorrow so it will be nice to have some help carrying gear and we're looking forward to hanging with them for the next month.

I'm going to go buy some eggs and make an omelette.
